06-05-2013: The delegation of the Senate of the DRC to Kigali for a meeting with their Rwandan counterparts

This Monday, 06 May 201, a delegation of eight Senators from Democratic Republic of Congo, members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security, lead by the President of the Senate of the DRC, His Excellency Léon KENGO WA DONDO, arrived in Kigali for a meeting with Rwandan counterparts.

Kigali, 03 May 2013, Amb. NKOSINATI George Twala South Africa’s High Commissioner to Rwanda today paid a courtesy call on Senate Vice President Hon. GAKUBA Jeanne d’Arc to strengthen relations between the Parliament of South Africa and Rwanda. The envoy also took the chance to thank the parliament of Rwanda for having been at the centre stage in conflict resolution through membership of inter parliamentary bodies such as the IPU.

This Thursday on 22nd march 2013, students of INILAK visit The Parliament. HABIMANA Augustin, Director General of Communication and Outreach explained these students the Parliament functioning, legislation and Government control.

This tuesday on 19th march 2013, the senate plenary session considered a relevant draft law establishing the Rwandan elders advisory forum and determining its mission, organization and functioning;

About Parliament

The Parliament of Rwanda is bicameral.
It consists of two chambers:

- The Senate
- The Chamber of Deputies

After the transitional period (1994-2003) ,the first legislature of the Chamber of Deputies commenced in 2003 to 2008 ,the Second legislature commenced in 2008 to 2013 .

The first legislature of the Senate commenced in 2003 and ended in 2011.

The second legislature of the Senate commenced in 2011 and will end in 2019.
